Identity Security

Identity Threat Detection
& Response (ITDR)
for Perth Businesses

Identity threat detection and response (ITDR) watches what happens after someone signs in, catching attackers who get past a stolen password or a hijacked Microsoft 365 session that multi-factor authentication alone won't stop. PC Madness runs ThreatDown ITDR for Perth businesses, with 24/7 monitoring across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Okta and on-premises Active Directory, and response that suspends the account and revokes the session or token, automatically or in one click, before damage spreads.

Why MFA alone doesn't stop account takeover

Multi-factor authentication stops most password-only attacks, but it isn't the end of the story. Attackers now steal active session cookies and authentication tokens through phishing, bypass MFA with prompt-bombing (MFA fatigue), or run a Golden Ticket or Kerberoasting attack against Active Directory, all without ever needing the password.

Identity threat detection and response (ITDR) watches what an account does after it signs in: where it signs in from, what it accesses, and whether its behaviour matches a hijacked session, a compromised privilege level or an attacker moving sideways through your systems. When something doesn't add up, it can suspend the account and revoke the session or token automatically, before an attacker reads a mailbox or redirects a payment.

Paired with our EDR / MDR endpoint protection, identity alerts are correlated with suspicious device behaviour, giving a fuller picture of an attack and a faster response.

"Response actions including account suspension, session revocation, and token revocation resolve threats before damage spreads."

What our ITDR service includes

24/7 identity monitoring and fast account lockdown, deployed and managed for you by the PC Madness team.

24/7 identity monitoring

Sign-ins and session behaviour across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Okta and on-premises Active Directory are monitored around the clock, not just checked after something goes wrong.

Catches what MFA can't

Impossible travel, password spraying, credential stuffing and MFA fatigue attacks are detected, along with stolen session cookies and tokens that let an attacker in without the password.

Fast account lockdown

A compromised account can be suspended and its active sessions and tokens revoked automatically or in one click, cutting off an attacker before they can read email, move files or change bank details.

Privilege escalation & lateral movement

Golden Ticket and Kerberoasting attacks, privilege escalation and lateral movement between systems are detected early, before an attacker reaches your most sensitive accounts.

Endpoint-correlated alerts

Identity alerts are enriched with suspicious endpoint behaviour from our EDR / MDR agent, so investigations start with a fuller picture instead of an alert in isolation.

Analyst-monitored, 24/7

Identity alerts are watched around the clock by ThreatDown's managed detection and response analysts, and the PC Madness team follows up with you on anything that affects your business.

How ITDR responds to a compromised account

  1. 1.

Monitor. Every sign-in and identity action across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Okta and Active Directory is monitored continuously, not sampled periodically.

  2. 2.

Detect. Suspicious behaviour, such as impossible travel, token theft or privilege escalation, is flagged and correlated with endpoint activity where available.

  3. 3.

Respond. A confirmed compromise is shut down by suspending the account and revoking its sessions or tokens, automatically or in one click, stopping the attacker mid-session.

  4. 4.

Review and report. The PC Madness team reviews what happened, and the incident is recorded in your regular security reporting.

Part of your layered managed security

ITDR protects the identity layer, and works best alongside the other layers. PC Madness combines it with multi-factor authentication and password management, EDR / MDR endpoint protection, Microsoft 365 email security, dark web monitoring for credentials that leak before they're ever used, and the Essential Eight. Whether you're a small business with 1-10 users or an established team of 25-50, we manage it all from our Midland HQ.

Common Questions

ITDR FAQs

Identity threat detection and response (ITDR) is a security service that watches what happens after someone signs in to your accounts. It looks for signs of a hijacked session, a stolen token or compromised credentials, and can automatically suspend the account and revoke the session when it finds one. PC Madness runs ThreatDown ITDR for Perth businesses, with 24/7 monitoring.

EDR / MDR protects devices: it watches what happens on a laptop or phone. ITDR protects identities: it watches what happens to a user account, wherever it's used from. An attacker who steals a password or session token doesn't need to touch the device at all, which is the gap ITDR closes.

Multi-factor authentication stops most password-only attacks, but it doesn't stop every account takeover. Attackers can steal an active session cookie through phishing, trigger MFA fatigue by bombarding someone with approval prompts, or abuse tokens directly. ITDR watches for exactly that kind of attack, after the sign-in has already happened.

The account can be suspended and its active sessions and authentication tokens revoked, automatically or in one click, stopping an attacker mid-session. Our team is alerted immediately, reviews what happened, and the incident is recorded in your regular security reporting.

Our ITDR service monitors Microsoft 365 and Entra ID identities, Okta and on-premises Active Directory, covering hybrid environments without an extra agent on each device. It covers Entra ID (Microsoft 365), Okta and Active Directory identities; Google Workspace accounts are protected through our other email and account security controls rather than ITDR itself.

Dark web monitoring finds your credentials after they've already leaked, so a password can be changed before it's used. ITDR is the next layer: if a leaked or stolen credential is used to sign in anyway, or a session is hijacked another way, ITDR catches the behaviour and shuts it down.
