About this policy
This policy explains how PC Madness Pty Ltd (“PC Madness”, “we”, “us”) handles personal information collected through this website, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
It covers the contact, IT security audit, Start Protection and free audit pop-up forms on this site, and what happens when you simply browse it.
What we collect
We only collect what you type into a form, plus the technical details any website receives:
- Contact and Start Protection forms: your name, business name, email address, phone number, role, preferred contact method, the type of help you need and any message or details you add.
- IT security audit form: your name, business name, email address, phone number, preferred contact method, business size, number of devices, whether you have an IT provider and the security concerns you tick.
- Free audit pop-up: your name, email address and the page you were on.
- Technical details: your IP address when you send a form, which we use to block spam and abuse.
We don’t ask for sensitive information such as health details, and you don’t need an account to use this website.
How we collect it
Directly from you, when you fill in a form, call us or email us. You can browse this site without telling us who you are, and you can call us on 08 9250 4554 to ask a general question without giving your details.
Why we collect it and how we use it
We use your details to:
- reply to your enquiry or audit request and arrange a discovery call;
- prepare and deliver the IT security assessment or quote you asked for;
- keep a record of our conversations with you as a prospective or current client; and
- protect our forms from spam, bots and abuse.
We don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we don’t add you to a mailing list from these forms.
Who we share it with
Your form details go to our team only: they are saved in our staff portal and emailed to our team inbox. We also rely on a few service providers to run the site:
- Our web hosting and email providers, who store the website, its database and our email in Australia.
- Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks each form is sent by a person and not a bot. It receives your IP address and information about your browser.
- Google, which serves the fonts this site uses and the map of our Midland office. Your browser contacts Google to load them.
- Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics, which measure how the site is used, such as which pages are visited, how visitors arrived and whether a form was sent. We only tell them that a form was sent, not what you typed into it.
We may also disclose information where the law requires or authorises it.
Cookies and browser storage
This website doesn’t set its own cookies on public pages. It saves a few small settings in your browser’s local storage instead: your light or dark theme choice, and when you last saw the free audit pop-up so it doesn’t keep reappearing. These stay on your device.
Google Analytics sets cookies to tell visits apart, and Cloudflare Turnstile and the embedded Google map may set their own. Cloudflare Web Analytics doesn’t use cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site still works, but a form may ask you to complete a security check again.
Storage and security
Form submissions are stored in a database that only our staff can reach, through a portal protected by passwords and two-factor authentication. The site is served over HTTPS, so your details are encrypted between your browser and our server, and our forms are rate-limited and checked for bots.
We keep enquiries and audit requests in our active records for six months. After that they’re archived, where only authorised staff can reach them. If you’d like your details removed sooner, email [email protected] and we’ll delete them unless we need to keep them for a legal reason.
Overseas disclosure
Your form details are stored in Australia, on our Australian web hosting and in our Australian email service.
Cloudflare and Google operate worldwide, so the information they receive when you load a page or send a form (such as your IP address and how you use the site) may be processed outside Australia, including in the United States.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing [email protected]. We’ll confirm who you are before we act on a request, and we’ll respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you’re concerned about how we’ve handled your personal information, email our Privacy Manager at [email protected] with the details. Your complaint goes straight to our Privacy Manager, who will look into it and respond to you in writing within 30 days.
